The Australian cricket team has announced its 15-player squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, with some notable omissions and inclusions. The team, led by Mitchell Marsh, features a mix of experienced players and newcomers, with Ashton Agar making a comeback after a long injury layoff.
Key Inclusions and Omissions
The squad sees the return of all-rounder Cameron Green, who has impressed in the Indian Premier League (IPL), and the recall of left-arm spinner Ashton Agar, who last played a T20I in 2022. However, veteran batter Steve Smith and young gun Jake Fraser-McGurk have missed out on selection.

Selection chair George Bailey believes the squad offers a good balance of experience and youth, with a variety of options to tackle different scenarios and opponents. “This is an experienced squad with extensive World Cup experience that offers a variety of structures and covers the scenarios the panel believes will factor in the West Indies with the unique nature of the venues and our opponents,” Bailey said.
