Bangladesh has announced a formidable squad for the upcoming T20I series against Zimbabwe in May, with a focus on strengthening their lineup ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. A notable inclusion is the return of fast bowling all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin, who adds depth to the squad after a prolonged injury layoff. Saifuddin’s recent performances for Fortune Barishal in the Bangladesh Premier League have showcased his readiness for international cricket once again.
Another exciting addition to the squad is ODI opener Tanzid Hasan, who is set to make his T20I debut, adding a fresh dimension to Bangladesh’s batting lineup.
Led by Najmul Hossain Shanto, the squad is missing the seasoned all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who is anticipated to join the team later in the series. Shakib’s absence is due to a break following the 2023 ODI World Cup, during which he dealt with an eye condition and a finger injury. However, his return to international cricket in the Chattogram Test against Sri Lanka indicates his readiness to rejoin the squad soon.
The series against Zimbabwe will kick off with three T20Is in Chattogram on May 3, 5, and 7, followed by the final two matches in Dhaka on May 10 and 12.
